Renting wedding decor instead of buying: What's worth it?
Buying means storing, disposing of, or reselling after the celebration. An overview of when renting is the more practical choice.
Decor used only once is rarely worth buying
Many wedding decor items – arches, backdrops for the bridal table, large candlesticks or columns – are only needed for a single day. If you buy them, you then have to store them, clean them, and eventually get rid of them again. With renting, all of that is eliminated: once the agreed rental period ends, everything simply goes back.
Larger, high-quality pieces become affordable
Especially with larger eye-catching pieces like arches, backdrops or multi-armed candelabras, the purchase price is often far higher than makes sense for a single wedding day. To rent, such pieces can be used for a fraction of the purchase price, which also makes a higher-quality setup possible than buying every single item would allow.
When buying is still worth it
Small items you want to keep using beyond the wedding – such as personal decor accessories for your own home – are better bought outright. For everything that is needed specifically for the one day, renting is generally the more practical and more affordable solution.
